Keeping business afloat:

During the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns in Germany, the Cine Royal multiplex cinema faced numerous challenges with Germany being one of the toughest enviroment during the pandemic with very strict restrictions, thoroughly controlled by the authorities. To adapt, we developed innovative concepts to keep the business afloat. We set up an open-air drive-in cinema and during non-lockdown periods, we created a cozy outdoor lounge area to increase concession sales. As new movie releases were limited, we found creative ways to sell alternative content such as classic movies and renting out theaters to play video games. Despite the challenges, we remain committed to providing unique and enjoyable cinema experiences for our customers.

Module 1: Drive In Cinema w/ live band stage

During nation-wide lockdown we set up a high tech drive in cinema with additional band stage in record time

Solution:

During the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown in Germany, we were determined to provide a safe and enjoyable entertainment option for our community. We set up an open-air drive-in cinema featuring a big LED screen, perfect for showing movies during the day. Adjacent to the screen was a stage for live bands to perform. Our venue played host to a variety of events, including concerts, movies, parties, and dining experiences. Given the strict contact restrictions in place, we implemented a completely contact-less system for ticketing, as well as food and drink delivery. Using our smartphone app, customers could order and pay for their food and drinks, which were then delivered straight to their car, ensuring a completely safe and enjoyable experience.

Module 2: keep the soda flowing

Keeping a cinema profitable at ⅓ of its capacity

Solution:

Despite the pandemic restrictions, we were determined to create a safe and enjoyable experience for our customers. With restrictions such as the ban on open soft drinks and limited capacity, we knew we had to get creative. We opened an outdoor lounge area where customers could relax and socialize with friends in a safe environment. To boost concession sales, we began selling pre-packaged cocktails and snacks. Our lounge area quickly became a popular spot to meet up and enjoy urban music and live artists. We also created a social program with a variety of events to keep our customers entertained. Despite the challenges, we remained committed to providing a fun and safe environment for all to enjoy.
